History
April 26, 1913. "Popov & Budentsov Trade House" pipe-making
facility is registered in Lugansk, Yekaterinoslav
Province.
1915-1916. The plant employs 190 workers. Yearly production reaches
480,000 poods (7,680 tonnes) of pipes in two sizes - 0.5" and 1.5".
Pipes are welded in coal-fuelled heating
furnaces.
1918. The plant is nationalized.
1926. The pipe maker is named after Fyodor Yakubovsky, the
revolutionary.
1929. The plant is reconstructed. Annual production reaches
22,000 t.
1941. Starting the first day of the Great Patriotic War, the
plant serves the needs of front.
1942. Due to occupation threat, facilities and employees are
evacuated to Pervouralsk Pipe Plant, so the operations proceeded
during the World War II.
1943. After Lugansk Oblast was liberated from Fascist invaders in
February, workers of the plant recover the ruinous premises with
the help of the local people. Operations start in
April.
1947. The plant starts commercial production of threaded pipes
and fittings as well as 2" welded pipes.
1958. Welding mills are switched to natural gas fuel from
coal.
1963. The plant commissions the first «10-76» pipe welding mill
with high current welding technology.
1972. The plant replaces all welding mills with ERW
mills.
1974. New SSAW pipe production shop is inaugurated. The shop has
a vertical galvanizing line, having no analogues in the USSR. A
maintenance shop, a boiler station, an electric substation, and a
water circulation station come on stream. Yearly production shows
225,000 t.
1986-1992. Production being uninterrupted, the pipe welding shop No.1
is fully reconstructed. The highest production rate reached in 1988
- 289,600 t of pipes. The staff counts 1,765
employees.
1991. The staff of Lugansk Tube Plant leases the operations with
option to buy.
1993. The plant becomes "Lugansk Tube Plant" closed joint-stock
company.
1996. The company begins commercial production of galvanised
water and gas pipes and hollow sections.
1997. The Plant starts up cold-formed pipe production for
antibouncers and cardan shafts.
1998. Water and gas pipes are GOST 3262-75 certified in UkrSEPRO
system.
1999. The Quality Management System is DSTU ISO 9002-95 certified
in UkrSEPRO system for the first time.
2002. Lugansk Tube Plant awards the exclusive right to distribute
its products to "Steel House" LLC. Water and gas pipes are
certified in accordance with GOST 3262-75 in Russian GOST system.
CJSC "Lugansk Tube Plant" receives TÜV NORD AD WO\ TRD100
certificate for products made to DIN 2440 and DIN EN 10219
p.1-2.
2003. The Plant is recognized the leader in the Ukrainian pipe
market. The Quality Management System is DSTU ISO 9001-2001
certified.The
Plant is awarded "Ukraine's Top 100 Products-2003" Ukrainian
Quality Contest Winner's Certificate, Kyiv.
2004. The Plant implements ERP technology enabling on-line
planning of production activities and monitoring of key
rates.
2005. The company's shareholders decide to shut down and
dismantle the galvanizing line for the sake of
environment.
2006-2007. The Plant implements production optimization programme,
which results in over 30% higher efficiency. The producer has the
highest production rates and salary in the industry. Hollow
sections are GOST 8639-82, GOST 8645-68 and GOST 13663-80 certified
within UkrSEPRO and Russian GOST systems. Longitudinal ERW pipes
are GOST 10704-91 and GOST 10705-68 certified within UkrSEPRO and
Russian GOST systems.
2008. Lugansk Tube Plant's production (260,000 t) accounts for
10% of the Ukraine's total pipe production. Hollow section output
accounts for more than 30% of the Plant's total production. The
producer launches reconstruction and modernization programme,
including product range expansion and installation of new mills and
a slitting line. Two pipe welding mills are launched - «27-89» and
«12-38». The products are TÜV NORD certified according to DIN EN
10219 p.1-2.
